How a club race officer changes a course, renames an entrant, enters a late boat, assigns a tracker and corrects a finish - and what can no longer be changed once the race has started.

The wind has shifted. How do I change the course?
What you can change before the gun, why nothing changes after it, and what to do on the water when the wind forces a course change mid-race.
How do I change the name shown against a boat?
Set or clear the name shown against an entry on the roster, the tracker and the results, without touching the boat's registered name.
The start is delayed. How do I change the start time?
Change the date, start time, timezone or expected duration of a scheduled race, and why a postponement usually needs nothing in the app.
A boat has turned up that is not entered. How do I add it?
Enter a latecomer into a scheduled or live race, and what the consent setting means for whether they go straight in.
How do I give a boat a club tracker, or take one back?
Hand a club tracker to a boat, swap it, or take it back - and what the orange 'No tracker' line means.
Someone retired, did not start, or went home. What do I mark them as?
Retire, withdraw, re-enter or remove an entry, which one to use, and why Remove disappears at the gun.
A finish was missed, or I shortened the course. How do I fix the results?
Use Set finish to record or correct a finish time and position, including after a shortened course.
How does someone outside the club watch, or race?
Share the public tracker link, or invite a guest racer from outside the club.
How do I finish or cancel the race?
What Finish race and Cancel race do, and why neither can be undone.
The gun is the "Start race" button, not the clock.
A race sits in one of four states: Scheduled, Live, Finished, Cancelled.
While a race is Scheduled, almost everything about it is still editable, and the course is live: the race follows whatever the club course says, so moving a mark in the course editor moves it for the race too.
The moment you press Start race, the app takes a permanent copy of the course ("freezes" it) and the race sails that copy for the rest of its life. From that point:
So: settle the course, the start time and the fleet before you press Start, and press Start at the actual gun rather than early. Nearly every race-day problem below is easy before that button and hard after it.
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| The race list | My clubs → your club → Racing tab → Races |
| Creating a race | Create race button, top right of the Races list |
| The race page (all officer controls) | Manage on the race's card, under My clubs → your club → Racing tab |
| The map, before the gun | race page → View course |
| The map, during and after | race page → Open tracker, or Track on the card |
| Courses | Racing tab → Courses |
| Buoys (the club's reusable marks) | Racing tab → Buoys → Open buoys |
| Club trackers (the loaner pool) | Racing tab → Trackers |
The Courses, Buoys and Trackers sub-tabs are admin only. A member on the Racing tab sees a race list and nothing else.
The Races list is split into Live, Upcoming and Past. Upcoming is sorted soonest first; Past is sorted most recent first.
Be aware of these before you are standing on the committee boat.
P and S in a buoy course string are an unconfirmed assumption. The
code reads P4 as "leave mark 4 to port", the standard sailing
instruction reading, but no club has confirmed it yet. If your sailing
instructions use the opposite convention, check a buoy course on the map
before you rely on it. Getting it backwards is invisible on screen and
obvious on the water.
