A boat has turned up that is not entered. How do I add it?

Enter a latecomer into a scheduled or live race, and what the consent setting means for whether they go straight in.

Updated 2026-09-22

You can enter a boat into a Scheduled or Live race, so a latecomer can join a race already under way.

  1. Open the race: My clubs → your club → Racing tab → Manage on the race's card.
  2. Enter boat.
  3. Pick the boat.
  4. Optionally assign a club tracker at the same time.

What happens next

It depends on the boat's consent setting with the club:

  • Auto-consent boats go straight in with status Entered.
  • Ask-first boats land as Pending consent and the owner is emailed a link. Until they click it, the entry cannot be given a finish, a position, a handicap, or be retired or DNF'd. It can only be withdrawn. You can still set its entrant name and hand it a tracker.

If the consent email fails to send, the app tells you explicitly rather than failing silently - the entry is created either way.

Competitors can enter themselves

A member can press Enter my boat on the race card for a Scheduled race, for a boat they own that is already consented into the club. Self-entry counts as its own consent, so it goes straight in.

Invitation-only races

These turn self-entry off and nothing else. You entering a boat is the invitation. Members see the button greyed out with "Entry is by invitation. The race officer enters boats."

If the boat is not in the list

It has not been added to the club. A boat with no active club consent cannot be entered by anyone. A boat with no tracker can be entered - the picker marks it "Needs a tracker". It appears in the results and not on the map, and you can hand it a loaner afterwards.
