About Us

HOW IT STARTED

It started with two real experiences

The first was the theft of a boat belonging to family. The boat was eventually found, but getting it back was a challenge. There was no registration record linking it to its owner and no simple way to demonstrate who it belonged to.

The second involved a family member whose boat broke down, leaving them adrift at sea over a few days. No search was ultimately required, but had one been needed, accurate information about the boat, the people on board and its last known location would have been essential.

Those experiences highlighted the same underlying gap: important information about the assets we care most about is often missing, scattered or unavailable when it matters.

NZ Boat Register grew from that gap - a secure digital record connected to practical tools for asset identification and location awareness.

THE CREW

Who's behind it

We're Sam Allen and Nick Walton, two Kiwi boaties combining experience in business, data, technology and security.

Sam leads the business, partnerships and product direction. Nick leads the technology, security and platform development. Together, we're building a connected system that helps any asset, from recreational boats and vehicles to gear, remain documented, identifiable, locatable and connected throughout its life.

WHY IT MATTERS

More than a register, it's peace of mind, on and off the water

NZ Boat Register brings together three connected capabilities: a secure Digital Record, easy identification with AquaTAGs, and cellular plus satellite location awareness with AquaGPS.

Our ambition is to make craft and gear easier to document, identify, locate and manage, while creating better information for owners and the organisations that support them.

Providing a secure place to store essential information, and ensuring the right information is available when it is needed, is key. If something goes missing, is late returning home or turns up somewhere unexpected, we believe that record and the ability to locate it can really help improve the odds of it returning home.
