How do I change the name shown against a boat?

Set or clear the name shown against an entry on the roster, the tracker and the results, without touching the boat's registered name.

Updated 2026-09-22

Common when a club loaner is out on a boat whose registered name is not what should appear on the leaderboard, or a visitor is sailing someone else's hull.

  1. Open the race: My clubs → your club → Racing tab → Manage on the race's card.
  2. Find the entry under Entries.
  3. Click the ⋮ menu on the right of that row.
  4. Set entrant name (or Change entrant name if it already has one).
  5. Type what should be displayed. Up to 80 characters.
  6. Save.

What it does

The label replaces the boat name everywhere a viewer sees this entry: the entries list on the race page, the map labels on the tracker, the Boats panel, and the results table. The boat's registered name is never overwritten by this - the entry row underneath the label shows "on Windrush" so you can always tell which hull it is.

When you can do it

Scheduled and Live races. It also works on an entry still showing Pending consent, which is deliberate: a club handing out trackers on the dock wants the label set before the owner's consent email comes back. It is one of the few things you can still change after the gun.

To undo it

Open the same dialog, clear the field completely, Save. It falls back to the boat's own name.
