# NZ Boat Register

> NZ Boat Register is a free, voluntary digital record platform for recreational boats, watercraft and marine gear in New Zealand. It is not the official Maritime New Zealand Register of Ships and does not prove legal ownership. It helps owners document, identify, manage and transfer registered records.

NZ Boat Register lets New Zealand boat and gear owners create free digital records, link NFC identification tags (AquaTAG), connect GPS location devices (AquaGPS), and transfer registered records when items change hands.

## Products

### AquaTAG
NFC identification tag that attaches to a boat, kayak, jet ski, or gear item. When scanned with a smartphone, it links to the registered record, owner contact details, and service history. No app required. Tags are waterproof and UV-resistant. Available from $20 at nzboatregister.co.nz/aquatag.

### AquaGPS
GPS tracking device for boats. Provides real-time location via the Senstera Manta Fusion device. Location data is streamed from Senstera and displayed in the NZ Boat Register app. Requires a subscription. Details at nzboatregister.co.nz/aquagps.

## Transfer service

NZ Boat Register provides an ownership transfer service for registered items. The current owner submits a request online with the new owner's name and contact details. The NZBR team processes the transfer and updates the register. A one-time fee of $10 applies. This is a register update only - it is not a legal title transfer or bill of sale.

- Not the official Maritime New Zealand Register of Ships (required for commercial vessels)
